Gene A. Wright’s Strategic Management Blog

Feb 1st, 2007 | By Gene A. Wright | Category: General

Well, here is the story of this blog. I decided to use this blog to create a place to collect snipettes of the reading and scanning I do related to the classes I teach at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Rader School of Business (MSOE) as well as at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, School of Business Administration (UWM).

I have been teaching graduate classes since 1989. I enjoy it very much because must continue to learn and keep up-to-date with the subjects and the news related to the classes that I teach. I teach Strategic Management, Marketing Management, Technology Management, New Product Management, and Information Technology Management.

Another reason to maintain this blog is to please my wife would wants me to eliminate, or at least reduce the three foot high pile of magazines and journals that fills one corner of our home office. Some of the publications are unread, most are read, highlighted and dog-earred. The highlighting and notes are for when I am looking for that perfect article or ‘quotable quote’ to make my point in a class or in a consulting or coaching engagement. Of course, finding that perfect resource is always a challenge.

Reading this blog you will find that some of the postings will refer to very current issues and subjects while others will be ‘classics’ (those that have been collecting dust for many months) that I know I will want to recall at some point.

I encourage all who read to comment and interact with me and those other readers of the blog. It is my hope that this blog will become a resource for clients, students, past students and perhaps future students and prospective clients.

Be well and God Bless.

  2. I constantly find myself trying to learn new things. Some things have to do with my everyday life, but most have to do with work. I just joined a new team at work and I have to learn a whole new series of systems and programs in order to be effective. Not only am I trying to learn these new tools, I also am trying to be the employee that my employer wants. This takes alot of multi-tasking on my part to learn everything I can and soak up as much knowledge as well as being productive.
